Working from home

I wasn’t sure I would like working from home – but it seemed to be the most logical decision after having my baby girl last year.

Now,  I love it – after having Daisy I was overwhelmed with the magic of motherhood and made the decision pretty quickly to go back to work part-time and give away the studio.  I’ve never looked back.

My home office is in Lilyfield in the Inner West of Sydney – it’s a long process changing my business address with google maps I’m afraid so I’m still listed as Beattie St, Balmain – but I’m working on it !

Now I shoot exclusively once a weekend (no doubles or triples) and a maximum of 25 weddings a year.  This is a great work/life balance for me and also means I can give each client I do have, much more attention.

I’ve only ever posted one photo of Daisy Sue on the blog – so here is an update – isn’t she gorgeous ?  I honestly could spend every minute of my life with her she is truly special.

It’s a new year

Hello,

I love the start to a New Year – it’s so refreshing and positive and the air is filled with good vibes.  People are on holidays, everyone is relaxed, and (hopefully) the weather is good on this side of the globe.

All my clients know that last year was a pretty amazing one for me and my family – we were blessed with a daughter in February – Daisy Susan.

She has certainly kept us busy these last 11 months and I’d do it all again in a heartbeat – it’s staggering to think she’ll soon have her first birthday.

Being a Mum has opened up emotions and feelings I never knew I had and I’m sure it has made me a more sensitive photographer and person in general.

This year amongst my New Years Resolutions such as ‘eat more pizza on Norton st’ and ‘drink more champagne’ I am also going to ‘post more’ and show more of ‘me’ on the blog.  Sometimes it’s a struggle to keep up with it all being a working Mum, but I do think it’s important for my clients to connect with me from prior to booking, during the lead up to the wedding, and of course on the day itself.

Me, Mr M and the bump of Little Miss

Hi All,

You have been very patient with waiting for the next blog post :-) !

A few of you have asked, so here is a little glimpse of what is going on with me right now.

I am so blessed to have Anika shooting for me and offered to ‘shoot the boss’ – so Mr M and I have some special memories of this time.  Didn’t she do a fabulous job ?!

My due date is next Thursday so we are on the cowntdown …. it’s very exciting.

We have lots of beautiful weddings to share with you that are from last spring and already this year so I do look forward to making more blog posts in the coming months.

So far this year we have been published in 4 magazines – so these spreads will also be posted on the blog soon.

With love,

Nerida
